Where are the Masterpiece Academy sessions held?

A. J. Lewis Greenview Elementary, Richland One for Elementary school participants. The Gathering Place of Pure Dominion Ministries and event locations throughout the city for Middle and High school participants.

Is this a fee-based program?

No, all of the program needs are covered by Pure Dominion Ministries, Inc. and their partners.

Is the program only for boys of color?

According to the research, boys of color need special attention to increase their academic and social skills.

How are the students chosen?

Elementary School administrators choose the boys based on their potential to excel with additional help and exposure to creative and innovative activities. Middle and High Schoolers are chosen by application and interview process.

Is the program year-round?

The elementary sessions follows the school district calendar. There are also meetings with Masterpiece Academy families in the summer for special events. The middle and high school sessions are throughout the year.

Are you all planning to expand the program?

Yes, for elementary schools, we will increase programming for boys at Greenview Elementary first, then we will expand to other elementary schools in Richland One based on a hierarchy of needs. For middle and high schoolers, the program will grow based on elementary graduations and community needs.

Do parents get to see what the children are working on?

Yes, at the end of the program cycle, the elementary school students have an opportunity to share what we have been working on. Middle and High school parents can visit the sessions throughout the year.
