Masterpiece Academy Program Description
Masterpiece Academy, an initiative of Pure Dominion Ministries, is a developmental leadership pipeline that begins in elementary school and follows boys into adulthood. Pure Dominion Ministries, Inc. (PDM), a training and outreach ministry of Greater Columbia, South Carolina, is excited to partner with A. J. Lewis Greenview Elementary, of Richland District One, to create this pathway of success for young boys of color. Middle and High School boys can apply throughout the year to begin their journey.
Masterpiece Academy is a cultural-changing academy striving to make a generational impact in our communities. 3rd- 5th grade children, identified by the school administration, will work with mentors in dramatic arts, expressive writing, music, and literacy skills. PDM will also introduce the strengths-based curriculum of The Council for Boys and Young Men for healthy leadership development. This will allow children to have fun identifying their personal gifts and talents as they apply skills of reading, critical thinking, and teamwork. For middle through high schoolers in the greater Columbia area, self-discovery and team work are the first skill sets developed. Thereafter, learning what they are capable of, we build upon that learning to provide fun, positive exposure to leadership opportunities and community engagement to prepare for the real world.
Masterpiece Academy will build self-confidence, create lasting bonds, and have a measurable positive impact on academic skills.
Masterpiece Academy’s driving force is to equip children for the future, enhance their cultural awareness, and assist in identifying and using their strengths. Subject matter experts, community leaders and mentors will ensure young men enhance their skills, deepen family and community relationships and create discipline within their strengths while having fun.
The initiative begins with a scheduled parent interest meeting to meet the organizers, complete applications (if applicable) and obtain detailed information prior to the 1st session. PDM believes every boy is a masterpiece, and every masterpiece deserves the opportunity to discover who he is, develop what is within him and learn how to use his gifts to make a difference.
